Most of you know who James (Jim) Mermigis is. A New York based attorney who has sued on behalf of NY City and Federal workers since before 2020. A religious man, a family man and a voice for the little guys. Against many odds Jim has made strides towards the rights of NYeres regarding discriminatory practices. The battle is uphill but he continues to fight. The cases he has brought required out of pocket funds to be spent by him and his team. Reimbursement would come if the case was successful. Most attorneys declined to take these cases because while the likelihood of winning should be a slam dunk, in fact its not. NY is probably one of the worst states to litigate these type of cases.
In the midst of handling these cases, James began coughing often and not being able to breathe while laying down. Finally he sought medical guidance and discovered he had two blood clots. He spent weeks in the hospital and ultimately was convinced to have surgery. Two surgeries later and many months Jim is feeling better. It has been a scary time.
